Mangalam Centers and Nyingma Institute support a large number of on-going projects and non-profit organizations.

Please read through the web site of each project so you are familiar with the goals, mission and work of the organization.

1. Mangalam Centers Administrative work, volunteer recruitment, IT, facilities maintenance, support services, cooking, web site work.  

2. Mangalam Research Center for Buddhist Languages A center for the development of terminology suitable for the translation of Buddhist texts in Western languages. Volunteer work includes cataloging, scanning, research, database development, web site maintenance, desktop publishing, and administrative and secretarial work.

3. Tibetan Aid Project  Internship/volunteer opportunities in non-profit management, fundraising, event planning and marketing. Also volunteers with training or aptitude in IT/computer systems and web site development and maintenance. See TAP volunteer opportunities

4. Prayer Wheel Project Volunteers needed for prayer wheel production from gluing, rolling, assembling to packaging and boxing. No experience is required and all training will be provided. This is quiet meditative work requiring precise hand work and   tolerance for repetition. See Prayer Wheel volunteer opportunities

5. Nyingma Trust Volunteers with skills or abilities in graphic design, fundraising, event planning and general office administration who wish to who apply their energy and creativity towards ensuring the longevity of a Buddhist lineage. See Nyingma Trust volunteer opportunities

6. Prayer Flag Project Volunteers who have a fondness for, and skills or aptitude in sewing and sewing machine use, either home or industrial. Also those who enjoy hand-made and craft projects with all manner of textiles in a production style.

7. Light of Buddhadharma Foundation International  Volunteers who can assist in book-keeping, graphic design, web updates, fundraising, film editing and office support. A special interest in individuals who have lived in Southeast Asia and have a good command of Hindi and/or Thai. See LBDFI volunteer opportunities

8. Guna Foundation  Volunteers with skills including office management, web site design, desktop publishing, technical skills in editing and film making, script writing, fundraising and event coordinating and archiving. Good organizational and writing skills are necessary. See Guna volunteer opportunities

Minimum commitment is 6 months. Shorter commitment periods of 3 months may be considered in cases of visa restrictions.

We encourage all applicants to be flexible and willing to be placed wherever the work need is greatest. If you have a skill you would like to contribute or you wish to be placed with a particular project, please let us know on your application.

With a number of projects seeking volunteers with similar skills such as graphic design, IT, web site design and maintenance, some volunteer positions may be shared between more than one project.
