Minimum age is 21. No particular religious affiliation required to participate. We cannot invite children or pets. Couples are welcome to apply but must submit individual applications. Guidelines for Applying: Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following qualities:
The work-study volunteer program is rigorous physically, mentally and emotionally. Living and working with a close group of people on a 6 day work week with classes and other community activities is rewarding, challenging and demanding. We ask that applicants be in good physical health with no major or on-going health concerns. Please do not apply if you are coping with major unresolved emotional issues, withdrawal, or diagnosed psychological disorders or if you have recently quit smoking or using drugs, recently begun a recovery program or have recently begun a regimen of medications. Trial Period: Accepted applicants are invited for a one month trial period with the intention that the volunteer will stay on for the duration of the commitment period. The purpose of the trial period is to confirm to our mutual agreement that the program is a good fit for the applicant. Commitment: Minimum commitment is 6 months. Shorter commitment periods of 3 months may be considered in cases of visa restrictions. Following the successful completion of the initial 6 month commitment a volunteer may request a further commitment of 6 months or longer.
